I.C.E PRODUCTIONS are thrilled to announce the first REBIRTH PROJECT being heralded by the unmistakable, unforgettable and un-missable legend that is NICK WARREN, ably supported by top South African export and Peppermint Club (Dubai) resident, AFROBOOGIE (DJ Nelson).

Expanding consciousness and soothing souls with deeply influencing ambient psy-chill sounds will be the domain of the master craftsman known as THE WIRELESS PENGUIN. Jo’burg will bear witness to 10 hours of experiential sounds laid down by this in-demand Portuguese ambient artiste.

May 8th and 9th (CPT and JHB respectively) will be bathed in musical excellence, with an unrivalled visual experience supplied by world renowned UK VJ RED DOG.

NICK WARREN

Nick Warren, a music obsessive who grew up on punk, reggae and pop, turned to house music in the late ‘80’s. Catching the attention of Massive Attack he became their official DJ. Joining with Jody Westernoff in 1994 they formed Way Out West.

You can tell when Nick Warren’s on the decks. The music emanating from the DJ booth is that perfect blend of driving percussion and soaring musicality, bursting out of the speakers, soaking everyone in melody, drenching them in sound.

On the floor, the crowd experiences all the peaks and troughs that make Warren’s sensibility so unique. He might start with his deeper take on house, gradually morph into harder territory, then, once Warren has the throng fully in his grip, sweating and losing themselves in the music, moving on instinct, he takes them to destinations unknown.
This is why Nick Warren is so respected. He truly knows how to work a crowd, delivering epic, journeyful sets, taking the listener somewhere they have never been before

This is the skill set that comes with vision and, just as importantly, experience.

Warren remains at the forefront of world club culture. He packs out clubs and arenas across the globe from London to Los Angeles, Taipei to Lima. Transfixing dancefloors with his distinctively forward-thinking blend of credible progressive sounds, he incorporates cutting-edge techno, atmospheric layers and subtle grooves in his turntable alchemy.

2008 also found Warren reaching other notable milestones. His EIGHTH mix was released for the acclaimed Global Underground series, GU035: Lima. Warren’s pioneering electronic/band collaboration with Jody Wisternoff, Way Out West, releases its FOURTH studio album later this year.

Warren also became head of A&R for Hope Recordings, keeping him immersed in the shifting tides of new dance music movements.

Is probably one of the most high profile resident DJ’s in the world due to the position he holds at The Peppermint Club in Dubai. Afroboogie has flown the flag high whilst sharing the booth with some of the world’s biggest artists and hosting his own acclaimed night.

AFROBOOGIE has received high praise for his big room sets, filled with energy and his unique blend of tech house and techno sounds, always managing to effectively read his crowds and deliver that fine blend of music that is both cutting edge and entertaining.

His regular monthly podcasts average 3000 downloads and incorporate sample voices from audio books, interviews, talks and documentaries

The Wireless Penguin can be expected to blend his sounds across Psychill and Freestyle Electronica, Minimal, Ethnic, Nu jazz & Groove. He will be showcasing his incredible knowledge and skill for 10 wholesome and quite beautiful hours…………something NOT to be missed!

“My name is Martim Martins aka M&Ms, I was born in Lisbon Portugal in 1971 and since an early age have been a Music Lover. Big influences from Pink Floyd, The Sonic Youth, The Swans, Dead Kennedys, Diamanda Galas and The Pogues. I was intruduced to the Electronic side of music in the year 2000 and from then a whole new perspective on music arised with the unlimited posibilities of the Electronic soundscapes. Always have been a music collector and resercher, allways selecting tracks from favourite albuns to Cassettes and latter on to CDs. The first DJing experiences were in private parties with friends but soon i understood that i needed to get my own Mixing gear. The first event was around 2004 and never stopped since then. I work in a regular basis with main stream promoters like Quest 4 Goa, Omium, Synergic Minds, Good Trance, Crystal Matrix, Elements Trance, Utopia After Boom and Freedom Festival.

Since 2005 i started a project with my brother called Tuatara Club in Lisbon and have done many music events from Psytrance to Drum & Bass, Minimal Techno to Progressive, Ambient and Chillout Sessions.
For the last 3 years i’ve dedicatted myself exclusivelly to all the Downtempo genres from Psychill to Freestyle Electronica, Minimal, Ethnic, Nu jazz & Groove.

It was during the Utopia After Boom 2006 that i was invited to join the French based label Electrik Dream Records.

In 2007 Ive created the “TURN ON, TUNE IN & CHILLOUT” Podcast where i upload all the “musical story mixes” as soon has i “write” them, always with a theme using sample voices from audio books, interviews, Podcasts talks and Documentaries.
Some of the authors used are well known in the areas of science, shamanism, music, literature and alternative cculture such as Terence Mckenna, Robert A. Heinlein, Ravy Shankar, Timothy Leary, Carlos Castañeda and Alan Watts among other brilliant minds of our time.
The most Popular Mixes are the “musical saga” based on the Famous Science-Fiction novel “Stranger in a Strange Land” from the american author Rober A. Heinlein and “The Spirit Catcher” mix based on Carlos Castañeda’s talks with Mexican Shaman Don Juan.
Every month there’s a new Mix coming out and the average # of monthly downloads is 3000, not bad.
This Podcast has the purpose to share different approaches both in alternative and original music and alternative thinking as a means to expand our awareness and consciousness.”

Ben Mason aka RED DOG is one of the UK’s premier heavyweight VJs. For over a decade he has bruised and soothed retinas at clubs, festivals and events the world over.

RED DOG produces visual shows for the dance scenes biggest names including; Carl Cox, Sasha, Ministry of Sound, Metalheadz, Fat Boy Slim, MTV, Cream, Hybrid, Gatecrasher and Glastonbury to name just a few.

He has also produced motion graphics, title sequences and music for the BBC, Channel 4 and Discovery Channel.
